Early December 11th 1985, Shaquan “Yung-Face™”
Brown was born in Richmond, CA, to his mother Victoria Brown. Shaquan was the
first of four children. He preceded two sisters, Brittany and Kiara, and one
brother, Rashawn.
All four
were two years apart. Rashawn died shortly after birth. Shaquan had somewhat of
a pestilential childhood. His mother, Victoria was fluctuating on drugs, and
mothered her children irregularly. Shaquan and his sisters spent a majority of
their childhood with their Aunt Darlene and Uncle Michael. But living with
extended family, as much as you may love them, their house will never be a
home. From 6th grade until age 18, Shaquan was in foster care. For four years he lived with a foster family
but then got transferred to a foster home. Most of teen life was spent in a
foster home. Shaquan left the foster home at 18, and was strong enough to stand
on his own two feet. He went and got his degree in Business Technology. A
couple years down the road he was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. Chiari
Malformation is a brain disorder in which the brain becomes too large for the
skull’s capacity. After going through intensive surgery on his brain, Shaquan
continued to preserve through life.
Shaquan
is now on his own to feet making his way in the world. He works at a well
renowned brokerage company. During an interview with Shaquan, he was asked,
what positive things about his childhood can he remember. He shared that he
reminisces about different childhood occasions where he made up dances and
taught them to the other neighborhood children, hosting faux talent shows and
imaginary dance competitions. He talked about when living with his uncle he
always used to always watch his uncle work on computers and create music; his
uncle was a jazz producer. His uncle
made him take piano lessons and play the drums in church. His uncle did it out
to train Shaquan to be disciplined and dedicated, but Shaquan did it because it
was a passion. Shaquan loved music, enjoyed rap, was enthralled with beats;
making music his first real love.
With determination and music come women. There were different women that surrounded
him during the fabrication of his music. The commonality of all the women is
that they seemed to compliment his youth like face. He got the name Yung-Face™,
because no matter how much older he gets his face remains youthful in
appearance and stolid in times of hardship. From Bay Area to South-Side Phoenix
Yung-Face has been a success. Now he owns his own studio and his own label,
We-Up-Next ENT. ™.Yung-Face™
was asked about his career goals with and after music he said, “With my music I
plan to incorporate whatever I can. I want to build this label on more that
just one stylistic fashion of music. This label should be a collaboration of
all sorts of genres. It should not be solely music; a clothing line is a strong
endeavor. I want to build an empire… After all this is said and done, I want to
pass all my knowledge of business to my children, simply retire, and then share
in all my accomplishments…”
