Atlanta's Hot 107.9 Fires Morning Show |
|
Atlanta, GA. Radio One created a major shake up at one of their radio stations in Atlanta Hot 107.9.
The station removed its morning show "The A-Team" consisting of Rashan Ali, Emperor Searcy, Griff, Akini and Beyonce Alowishes. This is not the first time the station under went a major revamp of the morning show in 2005 a shock under went through Atlanta when Ryan Cameron who has been with the station since its beginning and accomplished the best ratings for the show.
Apparently, the station is following a cut back and replacing some of its local personalities with nationally syndicated shows. Word has it that Ricky Smiley will be replacing the A-Team. In addition to the replacement there have been additional shifts with firing their mid-day host for 6 months Maria More who was brought in from Tampa, FL to replace Ramona Debreaux. Rashan Ali and Searcy are suppose to take on a day slot, while Miss Shanyka will be move to an overnight shift. However several jocks are left without a job such as E4Real, Akini and Griff.
Radio stations having to face new competition from Satellite Radio and internet stations that allow the listeners select their own programming with less commercials. Syndication is a way for the local stations to cut cost and allowing them to save approximately $75 million a year in salaries.
